12th floor Labs

Open Access laboratory.
Weekdays 8AM -8 PM Weekends 10AM-5PM.
Labs are also used for teaching and special hands-on training sessions. |
62 Windows XP clients under windows 2003 Active Directory domain. (software listed below)
40 Pentium IV 2.4 GHz Windows XP Workstations. 22 Pentium IV 2.8 GHz Windows XP clients. PCs are local area networked via dedicated 100Base-T.
PC Clients authenticate to Windows 2K3 Active Directory Domain. Labs are wide area networked (WAN) to Internet and RISC 6000 cluster on uptown campus via 200 mps Ethernet on a fiber optic backbone. LAN speeds are 100mps to the desktop.
DHCP is fully implemented in labs and classrooms. Wireless networking is available throughout the Tidewater Building.

Distance Learning and Video Tele conferencing facilities
This facility is currently managed by CEAPH under the TUSPHTM dept of Environmental Health Sciences. |
TUSPHTM Video teleconferencing facility (VTCF) Capacity 30 persons, over flow room 25 persons.
Use includes distance learning via Internet access using VTC ISDN and H323. Multiple video camera and monitor installations with central console controls.
Equipment includes Ascend, Accord MCU, and Osprey Codecs. Links are provided via high speed ISDN and satellite uplinks. For details please check the CAEPH web site at http://caeph.tulane.edu for details on distance learning initiatives. |

Faculty Offices
Access to Internet and mainframe computing is available by 100mps and wireless Ethernet via TCP/IP |
Pentium microcomputers AND LAPTOPS available for their personal use.
Machines are generally high-end Pentiums IIIs and IVs, Brands include; (Gateway, Dell, Compaq, Digital and Apple). The SPHTM network comprises approximately 520 machines.
Operating Systems are Windows 2000 and Windows XP workstations.
Microsoft networking is implemented under TCP/IP using simple peer-to-peer workgroup model. Using NTFS security for shared resources.
Faculty utilizes Blackboard Server access for class organization and network access for setting up assignments, scheduling and grading. |

Administrative personnel have microcomputers available for the preparation of documents and execution of some basic accounting methods.
The Dean of Student Affairs utilizes a Windows 2000 and XP LAN with 15
computers, 3 fileservers.
Network access to the IBM Administrative Mainframe and the RISC 6000 cluster on the Uptown Campus supports student registration and financial aid transactions, and Internet Access, and Web site development. |
